This is a site dedicated to discussing and building an open transit spec. First and foremost is the goal of distributing realtime data over RSS, but within reason complete timetable data and beyond can be encoded. Everything is up for discussion and is not nailed down yet.

Loosely it's expected that timetable, or static, data is published in some other format if at all. Like GTFS for example. However that is not an assumption, realtime data can be divorced from the full set of data. Additionally, location data, predictions, and full timetable data can be encoded but it's not enforced on the end publisher to do so. In sum, we're not forcing you to 'open' everything but that would be nice.
